Winbond’s own brand of Pseudo SRAM and Low Power DRAM, which is called “Mobile RAM”, is used in a wide range of electronic appliances, including mobile phones, digital cameras, PDAs, GPS devices, and MP3 players. Unlike commodity DRAM, our Mobile RAM emphasizes low power consumption. To meet customers’ requirements for light-weight and compact designs, we employ specialized testing techniques and provide custom packaging such as Known-Good-Die (KGD). Mobile RAM, with its tailor-made specifications, commands a higher price than commodity DRAM, resulting in higher profitability and less exposure to the rapidly fluctuating commodity DRAM market.

Winbond’s Pseudo SRAM products range from 16 Mb to 256 Mb. In the high-density field, Winbond was the first to introduce 256 Mb products (meeting the Cellular RAM 2.0G standard). Winbond’s Pseudo SRAM products have a 20% share of the market, coming in as the third largest Pseudo SRAM manufacturer in the world, after Samsung and Micron.

According to IDC predictions, over 1 billion mobile phones will be shipped worldwide in 2007. As a result of the rapid drop in prices for high-density Smartphones and multimedia phones, the demand for Low Power DRAM will keep increasing. Moreover, most portable consumer electronic products will start using Low-Power DRAM. As a result, the prospects for Mobile RAM are rosy.
